Welcome to Our Practice

Bringing Elite Care to Reno

Murphy Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa has been part of the Reno community since 1998, when I came home to build the kind of practice I believed this city deserved. I grew up here, went to the University of Nevada for both my undergraduate degree and medical school, and after years of surgical residencies across the country and two years serving in the United States Navy, coming back to Reno wasn't a difficult decision. I wanted to raise my family here, and I wanted to bring the care I had trained for to the people and the place I know best.

What started as a single surgeon's practice has grown into one of Northern Nevada's most trusted destinations for plastic surgery and medical spa services. What brings patients back is simple: with us, they feel heard. They walk in with questions and insecurities, and they leave feeling confident.

Our Philosophy

What Keeps Our Patients Coming Back

I have never believed that a surgical outcome alone is what earns a patient's trust. The result matters enormously, but the experience around it is what determines whether someone feels good about their decision, refers a friend, or comes back when they are ready for something else. That is something I have thought about since the day I opened this practice, and it shapes how every member of our team approaches their work.

My practice has been voted "Best in Reno" six years in a row. This kind of recognition does not come from advertising. It comes from doing the work well, treating people with respect, and being the kind of practice that someone feels good about recommending to the people they care about most.

Training & Qualifications

You'll Be in Good Hands

Board Certification

Choosing a board-certified surgeon is one of the most important decisions a patient can make. I earned board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2000, a credential that required passing comprehensive oral and written examinations and submitting 50 major operative cases for review.

Fellowship Status

I am a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a distinction that required peer references, demonstrated specialization, and a sustained commitment to professional excellence. When you are considering surgery, you should know that the person across the table from you has been vetted thoroughly by the most respected organizations in medicine.

Specialist Training

I completed five years of General Surgery Residency at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle and two years of Plastic Surgery Residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina, where I studied under Dr. Louis Argenta, a world-renowned specialist in craniofacial deformity and microsurgery.

Reconstructive Experience

Beyond the operating room, I have spent over 25 years performing cleft lip and palate surgeries for pediatric patients and facial reconstruction for patients injured in accidents. That reconstructive work keeps me grounded and reminds me of what surgery can do for people when they need it most.

What We Offer

Our Most Popular Services

Patients at Murphy Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa want options across the spectrum, from a significant surgical change to a lunchtime treatment that fits into a busy schedule. Though we started as a surgical practice, we also have a full medical spa. Here is a closer look at two of the things we are best known for:

Breast augmentation patient

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is the procedure I perform more than any other. I perform twice the national average, based on numbers released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Every procedure is tailored to the individual; we will discuss implant type, size, placement, and what realistic outcomes look like for your specific anatomy. My job is to give you honest guidance, not to tell you what you want to hear.

Medical Spa

Our on-site medical spa upholds the same standard of care we apply in the operating room to a full menu of nonsurgical treatments. Using BOTOX® Cosmetic, fillers, HydraFacial, microneedling, laser treatments, and more, we can produce real, visible results with little to no downtime. Treatments are performed by trained professionals in a clinical environment, not a day spa.
