Healing
The Brazilian butt lift procedure does not result in nearly as much swelling, discomfort, and bruising as implant surgery. To ensure results that last as long as possible, Dr. Murphy compensates for this fat absorption by overfilling the gluteal area to make up for the expected loss.

Minimize Sitting
In order to retain as much fat as possible after surgery, it is important to avoid putting excess pressure on the buttocks for several weeks. Patients should avoid sitting on their buttocks or sleeping on their backs. During this time, patients should lie on their side or stomach or use pillows to prop up the buttocks and avoid compromising the healing process.
Delay Activities
Following liposuction with a BBL, patients can typically resume most regular low-impact activities within 48 hours post-procedure, such as doing laundry, vacuuming, washing dishes, or taking short walks. They can usually return to the gym within 2-3 weeks. You should not sleep on your back for 4-8 weeks to avoid compressing the grafted fat.
Maintain Good Health
While patients should avoid strenuous activity after fat transfer injections and liposuction, it is important to resume exercise when recovery is complete. Following a healthy diet and exercise routine is critical to maintaining the results of a Brazilian butt lift and other body contouring procedures. Once your recovery is complete, you will be able to do any exercise you would like, including squats. Because BBL surgery utilizes your own fat, your buttocks may get bigger or smaller depending on weight gain or exercise, but your butt will always be bigger than it was before surgery. In fact, it is impossible to achieve the same volume increase of the glute muscles through exercise as can be attained with BBL.
