Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG)

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is a naturally produced water-based hormone present in both men and women, although it is produced in great amounts in pregnant females. Combining the use of a small amount of HCG with a low-calorie diet in non-pregnant persons can cause the body to metabolize and use the abnormal fat through a specific process to reset the hypothalamus so that, once the diet is completed, a person can return to eating normally (and within healthy limits) yet keep the weight off for life. By properly following the HCG protocol, patients can lose an average of one to two pounds per day and will feel more healthy and energetic than they have in years.

How exactly does HCG weight loss work? A very small amount of HCG disconnects the mobile fat of the body and then burns and discharges the unwanted fat. The renowned HCG protocol, by Dr. Simeons, has been designed so that patients consume only a very strictly applied 500 calorie daily diet for a designated period of time, leading to reduced glycogen and low glucose in the blood. This causes HCG to act. In other words, the low calorie diet causes the body to release unwanted fat, leaving normal (or “good” fat) and lean body mass, while helping the hypothalamus to reset the body to a normal weight. Then, when the HCG weight loss protocol is complete, the body can maintain a healthy targeted weight even after food intake returns to normal. Phases 3 and 4 must be followed, reintroducing starches to the body.

HCG has been used safely by thousands of men and women in weight loss treatments since the 1950s. Because it is manufactured in a sterile environment, there are no risks of disease being spread through use of HCG. In the past decades, side effects have rarely been reported while using HCG diet injections for weight loss purposes. This Phase must be done under the direct supervision of a licensed health care practitioner.

HCG Diet Overview

The HCG diet is a weight loss protocol to help people reach their targeted weight by adhering to a strict diet plan and daily injections of HCG. Participants must undergo a period of approximately 30-45 days. During the designated time period, the diet is restricted to 500 calories per day. In addition to the very low calorie diet, daily injections of HCG are administered. HCG mobilizes the secure fat stored in the body and makes it available for use as energy. This combination results in an average of 0.5 to two pounds or more of weight loss a day depending on the starting condition of the dieter. It is not an easy diet, and patients must be mentally prepared and dedicated to adhering to the plan as it is designed. By doing so, however, a person can achieve relatively rapid weight loss and maintain a target weight long after the HCG diet is complete.

There are four different phases of the HCG diet.

PHASE 1: Phase 1, which is 2 days, will prepare your body to maximize the benefits from the HCG generated weight loss. Before the restricted calorie diet, you will need to load enough fat for two days. The proper fat loading provides your body with the energy it needs until the HCG can take effect and start metabolizing the fat that is stored in the body. You will take an injection of 125u of HCG first thing in the morning. Drink 1 gallon of water, and gorge yourself, eating as much food as you can throughout the day, especially fats. Once you have fat loaded for two days, you will start the restricted calorie diet

PHASE 2: This phase of the program begins your additional 21 or 40 day program. Every morning you will take the HCG hormone first thing in the morning. Weigh yourself daily in the morning.  You must follow the 500 calorie a day diet very strictly during this phase for best weight loss results.. You might experience hunger cravings at the very beginning, but these will subside between five and seven days. The morning is only coffee, water, and/ or tea. Lunch and dinner will be 3.5oz of protein, vegetables, and a piece of fruit. The food choices are very specific, you may eat only what is on the accepted foods list.

PHASE 3: This is the three-week period after the completion of Phase 2. This is the phase that allows the hypothalamus to reset and the weight loss achieved to lock in. It is very important not to add any sugar, starch, or heavily processed foods to this part of the diet. This includes fruits which are high in fructose. It is also important to weigh yourself daily. Your weight is not to go more than two pounds over/under the last injection date weight. If you find yourself having gained more than two pounds, fast for the day drinking teas and water and then eating a large steak and an apple for dinner.

PHASE 4: This is the “stabilize” stage. You should continue to keep sugars to a minimum; however, you can bring starches back to your diet very slowly. Continue to eat proteins and stay away from heavily processed or fast foods. Learn to adjust to calorie intake and eating the types of foods that will help you do so.

WHAT IS HCG?
The medical term for HCG is Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, pregnancy hormone. It is a natural water-based hormone present in both men and women, although it is produced in great amounts in pregnant females. In non-pregnant persons, research suggests HCG similarly increases the metabolism similar to a pregnant female.  We only obtain our HCG from reputable compounding pharmacies.

HOW DOES HCG WORK?
When the body is in a starvation mode, or very low calorie, HCG works to mobilize fat for energy utilization.  In pregnancy, higher levels of HCG allow the mother’s fat stores to be used for energy for mother and fetus. With very low doses of HCG we can mimic the benefits of pregnancy for the benefit of weight loss in men and women.

In overweight people, HCG seeks out the stored nutrients in the fat cells. This naturally stored energy supplies the body with upwards of 2,000 calories per day. While burning this stored energy, the body’s energy level increases and appetite decreases. The cells are emptied and shrunk down to sizes much smaller than normal cells. Therefore inches, as well as pounds, are lost on the program.

IS HCG SAFE?
HCG has been used safely for many years in weight loss treatments. Being manufactured in a sterile environment, as a bioidentical hormone, by a reputable company, minimizes any risk. There are rarely side effects reported while using HCG diet injections.  We do blood lab work on every patient wanting to start this diet. Our doctor, checks every patient’s lab work, history and physical.  Patients who are pregnant or nursing MUST NOT participate in the HCG diet plan.

WHY HCG WEIGHT LOSS?
By properly following the HCG protocol, patients can lose an average of one to two pounds per day. They will maintain their weight loss, if they continue with subsequent phases, and will feel healthier and more energetic than they have in years.

DOES HCG WEIGHT LOSS WORK FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN?
Yes. Although HCG is associated with pregnancy, it can be safely used by both men and women that are looking to loose weight and inches.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN I LOOSE WITH THE HCG DIET?
Research shows that a small, daily HCG injection, results in a weight loss of 0.5 to two pounds per day when accompanied by a very low-calorie diet. Factors that contribute to faster weight loss include some exercise, and proper water consumption.

IS IT UNHEALTHY TO LOSE WEIGHT THAT FAST?
Typically, it is very unhealthy to lose weight that fast. However, the HCG is what makes the difference in this protocol. HCG weight loss studies have shown that weight lost following the protocol comes directly from adipose fat tissue. It is not muscle nor is it the structural fat that the body needs that usually gets depleted during “dieting.” HCG dieters report a feeling and appearance of great health. Without HCG, and a very low calorie diet, your body will burn muscle not fat.

DO YOU HAVE TO DO THE INJECTIONS? I HATE NEEDLES.
No. There are other methods. Sub-cutaneous injection with a small insulin needle into belly fat, sublingual drops under the tongue, and the latest route is with an HCG cream.

DO I NEED A BREAK BETWEEN CYCLES?
It is suggested that patients take a four-week break after the first cycle of 40 or so injections in order to avoid developing immunity to HCG.

SHOULD THE HCG INJECTIONS BE STOPPED DURING MENUSTRATION?
Yes, but continue the 500 cal diet. As soon as menstruation is over, continue the injections.

CAN BIRTH CONTROL PILLS BE TAKEN WHILE DOING THE HCG INJECTIONS?
Oral contraceptives may be used during treatment.

WILL HUNGER BE EXPERIENCED DURING THE REQUIRED LOW-CALORIES DIET?
Patients may feel mild hunger during the first week; however, by the second week, they will be accustomed to the very low-calorie diet. This is partly due to the hypothalamus adjustment of the metabolic rate, but in large part because of the amount of calories circulating in the system from the fat being released.

HOW MANY OUNCES OF VEGETABLES CAN BE HAD PER DAY?
There is a restriction on the type of vegetables, and the limit is the total of all foods to 500 calories per day.

DO ALL 500 CALORIES HAVE TO BE EATEN EACH DAY?
Yes. Dieters have reported better results when eating all 500 calories each day rather than omitting them.

IS EXERCISE REQUIRED ON THIS DIET?
Exercise is not required, but we do recommend mild exercise, such as walking an hour a day. The average person burns about 3,000 calories a day just in normal activity, (resting metabolic rate)  and patients are only eating 500 calories a day with the HCG protocol. We do have organic supplements if you choose to do more moderate exercise, and need a little boost of energy.

WOULDN’T A LOW CALORIE DIET ALONE CAUSE WEIGHT LOSS?
A low calorie diet alone will burn muscle for energy, not fat. Furthermore, a low calorie diet will also drop metabolism and have a great decrease in a persons physical energy.  Hence, the reason most long term dieters will become “fatter” over time with continual low calorie diets. HCG again, allows the body to burn fat, not muscle.

WILL THE WEIGHT BE REGAINED AFTER THE HCG DIET?
The appetite will be changed after the HCG diet, along with the eating behavior and body metabolism. Patients will be able to eat moderately without feeling the need to overeat. A healthy lifestyle and diet, along with a minimum amount of physical exercise, will be sufficient to maintain the desired weight.
